How to reset Motorola WiNG 5 Controller to Factory Defaults

I searched and searched so you don't have to!  If you want to reset the password on a Motorola controller running WiNG 5, you need to connect to the console and login as "reset / FactoryDefault".  No need to thank me!  Really, they should make this information more readily accessible...!

  1. Thanks. I work on these things too. I think someone at Motorola got a hefty bonus for having Wing 5 released before deadline. The Documentation for the software is zilch. And the little documentation they do have is wrong. First experience with Wing 5 is that it took a lot longer to configure than it should have. I still have 2 open tickets with Motorola and No one has returned my call yet. Go figure the support team doesn't know it either.

  2. On WING 5.x I restore factory default like this:

    erase startup-config
    reload

  3. Absolutely correct Bo, but if you don't have access to the CLI in the first place you need to reset the password first, and that means a complete reset of the config (via the console port).
